College Planning

College Application Process

How simple or extensive your application process is will depend on the types of college to which you are applying. There are many moving parts to applying to college—application, test scores, essays, recommendation letters, transcripts, fees, etc. Each component has a deadline. Make careful note of deadlines for each school you're applying to so you don't miss them!

9th - 11th Grades

Counselors meet with freshmen, sophomores, and juniors during classroom presentations to assist in planning high school curriculum and post-secondary options. Course selection is completed with college entrance requirements in mind, although students intending to apply to specific selective colleges should be mindful to check websites for current information on requirements.

Schedule Your Senior Meeting

Seniors, be sure to schedule your fall senior meeting with the counseling assistant. We are happy to schedule these at a time when parents and students can attend together. Meetings should be scheduled for before Thanksgiving break. At the meetings, counselors will recheck graduation requirements, discuss plans and goals, and review the college application process. If applicable, counselors can answer any career questions you may have. Whether a student decides to join the workforce or to seek additional educational training after high school graduation, it is to the student’s advantage to make use of the counseling services offered at Broomfield High School.
