Welcome, my name is Laura Carr. I attended Roosevelt University in Chicago where I received my Bachelor’s Degree in English and minored in Secondary Education. I started my teaching career in Illinois, and my husband’s job transferred us back to Colorado. Once in Colorado, I began teaching at Centaurs High School and landed a job at Broomfield High School as the Literacy Coordinator. Furthering my education at Regis University, I completed my Masters of Arts Degree in Linguistically Diverse students in 2007. As of today, I manage two positions at Broomfield High School: Literacy and English Language Learner Coordinator. When I am not at school, I love travelling to Chicago to see my two sons, and Osseo, Minnesota to visit my daughter. My husband and I have been married 38 years. We enjoy going to Avalanche games, but we are big Blackhawk fans too. Literacy has become my passion for this school. I strive in finding tools, methods, and strategies to help our 21st Century graduates becoming proficient readers.
