Broomfield’s cross country team is full of talented runners who have loads of dedication and determination. In 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018, our girls team placed in the top ten at state. The team consists of fourteen (flexible) varsity and JV spots (seven girl spots and seven boy spots per level) and an unlimited number of C-team spots.
Our head coach, Greg Weich, does a great job preparing the athletes for races, along with Coach Zach, Coach Hazzard, Coach Davidson, and Coach Valdez. Practices range from long runs and premeet days to hill and threshold workouts. The season starts in the fall, but preseason occurs throughout the whole summer.
While these summer and afterschool practices provide lots of opportunities for bonding, weekly team dinners throughout the season unite the team as well. The rigorous six-day-a-week training schedule can be challenging, but with dedication and determination, athletes have everything they need to succeed.
